About this course

A three-year higher education diploma (SAQA ID 94158, NQF Level 6, 360 credits) in graphic design and visual communication. You learn to develop creative concepts and design for print and digital platforms, covering graphic design, typography and layout, illustration, branding and digital media. No previous design study is needed. You can study through day classes (full-time, a blend of on-campus and virtual learning) or evening and Saturday classes (part-time).

Adobe certifications are part of the programme:
- Year 1: Adobe Certified Professional in Graphic Design and Illustration
- Year 2: Adobe Certified Professional in Print and Digital Media
- Year 3: Adobe Certified Professional in Digital Video

Students who complete the Higher Certificate in Graphic Design first can move into the diploma. It suits creative school leavers who want a career in advertising, media or digital design.

CTU keeps classes small and teaches through real projects, so you get plenty of hands-on work and contact with lecturers. You finish with a national qualification plus internationally recognised vendor certifications, a combination employers look for. Check with your nearest campus that the programme runs there in the study mode you want.
