Grade 12 Required Subjects to study Higher Certificate in Project Management at IMM
- Matriculated in 2008 or later: a National Senior Certificate or NCV that allows higher certificate study, with English at level 3 (40 to 49%) as a home language or level 4 (50 to 59%) as a first additional language
- Matriculated before 2008: a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) without endorsement, or a CV and a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application
- Applicants over 23 without a Grade 12 may apply as mature age applicants through USAf
- RPL gives access to the programme only, not credits for modules
About this course
The Higher Certificate in Project Management is a 135-credit qualification at NQF level 5 (SAQA ID 118438). It teaches the basics of planning and running projects and suits school leavers, administrators and team members who are starting to coordinate projects at work.
The certificate has seven modules:

- Fundamentals of Business Management (20 credits)
- Fundamentals of Business Numeracy (20 credits)
- Fundamentals of Project Management: An Introduction (20 credits)
- Project Planning: Integration and Constraints (20 credits)
- Project Planning: People and Risk (20 credits)
- Project Management: Tools and Documents (20 credits)
IMM offers two study modes. Blended Hybrid learning adds optional face-to-face or live virtual classes at its student support centres, while Distance learning is fully flexible. Both use IMM's eLearn platform, with study materials, interactive content, live and recorded lectures, discussion forums and student support. The certificate takes at least one year and must be completed within four years.
By the end you should be able to scope a project, plan its schedule, costs and resources, manage risks and people, and use standard project documents. It provides a foundation for further study in business and management.
