Welcome to the University of Venda‘s guide for prospective students! If you’re considering applying to UNIVEN, here’s what you need to know about the requirements for our various undergraduate programs. Please note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, but it’s the first step towards joining our vibrant community.

Degree Programs

Overview of Requirements: To qualify for admission to our degree programs, you’ll need to meet a series of academic criteria:

  • Educational Certificate: You must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) that’s certified by Umalusi.
  • Academic Performance: Your NSC results should include an achievement rating of at least 4 (which translates to 50-59% or “adequate achievement”) in four subjects. These subjects must be chosen from the recognized list of 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • Additional Points Score: Apart from your subject ratings, your overall points score must be a minimum of 26 to qualify.

About APS Calculation: The calculation of your Admission Points Score (APS) is crucial for your application:

  • The APS for entering a degree program is at least 26.
  • Remember, Life Orientation is excluded from the APS calculation, and any subject scored below 40% won’t count towards your APS.
  • If you’ve taken more than seven subjects, only the top seven scores will be considered for your APS calculation.
