- Counselling and interpersonal communication skills, including referral and management strategies, for application in the key areas of crisis and trauma and self-esteem and motivation.
- Knowledge and skills in specific counselling areas through your choice of elective models, such as: addiction counselling, counselling in loss, working with children and adolescents, family work and relationships, sports psychology and/or gender, sexuality and HIV counselling.
You will also develop:
- Practical Work Integrated Learning experience.
- Designed to deepen your knowledge in specific areas of your choice.

Career opportunities
Graduates are able to register as Holistic Counsellors with the SAQA recognised Association for Supportive Counsellors & Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP).
Once you’ve successfully finished the Diploma in Counselling and Communication Skills you’ll be eligible for admission into SACAP’s Bachelor of Applied Social Science Degrees with credit transfer for the same modules already completed, provided that you meet the admission requirements for that programme.
