Entry Requirements (Undergraduate)



WASSCE/SSSCE Entry Requirements for All Programmes

To be eligible for any undergraduate program, you must have credit passes (A1-C6 / A-D) in the following core subjects:

  • English
  • Core Mathematics
  • Integrated Science
  • Social Studies (Note: You need at least a C6/D in Social Studies, although it isn’t included in the calculation of your aggregate score).

In addition, you need credit passes in three elective subjects relevant to your chosen program.

A-Level Applicants

Candidates must have the General Certificate of Education at Ordinary Level in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics. At the Advanced Level, you should have passes in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

Other Educational Credentials

  • IGCSE/IB: Applicants must have at least grades A*/A-C in English, Mathematics, and Biology at the Standard Level (SL/‘O’ Level), and grades A-C at the Higher Level (HL) in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics.
  • American High School Grade: Applicable to Grades 12 & 13 examinations.

International Applicants

International applicants and Ghanaians with foreign educational credentials equivalent to those listed above may apply to all programs. Foreign certificates must be authenticated and equivalences determined by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). If your documents are not in English, they must be translated.

School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) – Ho Campus

  1. Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science (6 years or 2-year Top-Up)
  2. Bachelor of Dietetics
  3. Bachelor of Diagnostic Imaging (Radiography)
  4. Bachelor of Medical Imaging
  5. Bachelor of Physiotherapy
  6. Bachelor of Orthotics and Prosthetics
  7. Bachelor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences

Entry Requirements:

  • All core subjects listed above, plus three electives from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Elective Mathematics.
  • Applicants for Bachelor of Dietetics can apply with Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, and General Knowledge in Arts.
  • Non-Science students applying for Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences must have at least a B2/B in Integrated Science.
  • For Doctor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (Top-Up): Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science with an FCGPA of 2.5 and above.

School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences (SBBS) – Ho Campus

  1. Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB)

Entry Requirements:

  • Core subjects listed above, plus:
    • Science students: Chemistry, Biology, and Physics or Elective Mathematics.
    • Agricultural Science students: Chemistry, Animal Husbandry/General Agriculture, and Physics or Elective Mathematics.

School of Medicine (SOM) – Ho Campus

  1. Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) (6 years)
  2. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (6 years)
  3. Bachelor of Physician Assistantship (Clinical) (4 years)

Entry Requirements:

  • Core subjects listed above, plus Chemistry, Biology, and Physics or Elective Mathematics.
  • All shortlisted applicants must pass entrance exams and a selection interview.

School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) – Ho Campus

  1. Bachelor of Nursing
  2. Bachelor of Midwifery
  3. Bachelor of Public Health Nursing

Entry Requirements:

  • Core subjects listed above, plus three electives from General Science, General Arts, and Home Economics. Specific subjects include Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Religious Studies, Literature-in-English, French, Ghanaian Language, Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, General Knowledge in Arts, Management in Living, ICT, and Health Education.
  • All shortlisted applicants may be required to pass a selection interview.

School of Pharmacy (SOP) – Ho Campus

  1. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) (6 years)

Entry Requirements:

  • Core subjects listed above, plus three credits in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Elective Mathematics.
  • Applicants with A-Level qualifications need five O-Level subjects, including English and Mathematics, plus Chemistry, Physics, and Biology at the A-Level.
  • Mature applicants must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dispensing Technology or related courses with at least three years of relevant experience, or be 25 years old with five A-level credits in relevant subjects.
  • All shortlisted applicants must pass entrance exams and a selection interview.

F. N. Binka School of Public Health (FNBSPH) – Hohoe Campus

  1. Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) with options in:
    • Disease Control
    • Health Information
    • Health Promotion
    • Nutrition

Entry Requirements:

  • Core subjects listed above, plus three electives:
    • For Disease Control: General Agriculture, Crop & Soil Science, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture.
    • For Nutrition: General Agriculture, Crop & Soil Science, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Management in Living, Food and Nutrition.
    • For Health Information: Elective Mathematics and ICT, Economics, Geography, Agriculture, Crop & Soil Science, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture.

School of Sports and Exercise Medicine – Ho Campus
