BGCSE Application Requirements:

The general minimum ENTRY requirements to the University of Botswana shall be the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE)/equivalent qualification with at least six subjects NOT below a grade of E.

FACULTY OF BUSINESS

  1. Bachelor of Accountancy: 4 years BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  2. Bachelor of Business Administration (Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  3. Bachelor of Business Administration (Logistics and Supply Chain Management): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  4. Bachelor of Business Administration (Management): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  5. Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  6. Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism and Hospitality Management): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  7. Bachelor of Finance: 4 years: BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  8. Bachelor of Information Systems (Business Information Systems): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION

  1. Bachelor of Education (Art and Design): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum grade of C in English Language.
  2. Bachelor of Education (Business): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  3. Bachelor of Education (Family and Consumer Sciences): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of Grade C in English Language, Biology and/or Chemistry or related science combinations. A minimum of grade C in any Family and Consumer Sciences or Home Economics subject shall be an added advantage.
  4. Bachelor of Educational Leadership and Management: 4 years; Applicants with a Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management or equivalent shall enter at Level 300 of the degree programme.
  5. Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Development & Education): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language.
  6. Bachelor of Education (Science): 4 years; BGCSE with a minimum of grade D in English Language and a grade of C in Mathematics, and grades of C in any two from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a minimum of grade BB in Science Double Award or equivalent, or a minimum of grade A in Physical Science and a grade C in Biology, or equivalent.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY

  1. Bachelor of Design and Technology Education: 5 years; BGCSE or equivalent with a minimum of C in Design and Technology or Art and Design or equivalent qualification, a minimum of grade D in English Language, a minimum of grade C in Mathematics, and either a minimum of grade C in Physics or a minimum grade BB in Science Double award or equivalent.
  2. Bachelor of Industrial Design: 5 years; BGCSE or equivalent with a minimum of C in Design and Technology or Art and Design or equivalent qualification, a minimum of grade D in English Language, a minimum grade of C in Mathematics, and either a minimum of grade C in Physics or a minimum grade BB in Science Double award or equivalent.

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

  1. Bachelor of Nursing Science (Generic): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade D in English Language and grade C in Mathematics, and grades of C in any two from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a minimum of grade BB in Science Double Award or equivalent or a minimum of grade A in Physical Science and a grade C in Biology, or equivalent.
  2. Bachelor of Nursing Science (Completion): 2 years; Diploma in General Nursing or equivalent; a minimum of two years nursing experience following completion of the Diploma; current or acceptable registration with the Nursing Council; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in combined science or grade E in any one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and a minimum of grade E in other four subjects.

FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

  1. Bachelor of Arts (Chinese Studies): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language.
  2. Bachelor of Arts (Information and Knowledge Management): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language. Applicants intending to major in Social Sciences or Science subjects must obtain a minimum of grade C in Mathematics or Computer Science.
  3. Bachelor of Information and Knowledge Management (Knowledge Management): 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language.
  4. Bachelor of Media Studies: 4 years: BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language. Applicants with work experience in Media shall be preferred.

  1.
