NSC aggregate of at least 70% (excluding Life Orientation); Mathematics 70%; Physical Sciences 60%; English Home Language 50% (no Afrikaans requirement), or English First Additional Language 60% (no Afrikaans requirement), or English First Additional Language 50% with Afrikaans Home Language 50%, or English First Additional Language 50% with Afrikaans Second Additional Language 60%. A selection mark is also calculated as Mathematics % + Physical Sciences % + (6 x Matric average %), out of a maximum of 800; recent selection marks of around 600-620 or more have generally been needed, with higher individual Mathematics and Physical Sciences marks required for some programmes.

Mechatronic engineering combines mechanical, electronic and computing disciplines to build integrated systems such as robots, automated assembly lines and electronic engine controls. It draws heavily on both Mechanical and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
