About this course

The Postgraduate Diploma in Management Accounting prepares graduates for senior management accounting work and for the strategic level of the CIMA professional exams. It is an NQF level 8 qualification of 140 credits (SAQA ID 111260), offered through the after-hours distance model.

The programme has five modules:

- Strategic Management
- Risk Management
- Financial Strategy
- Advanced Taxation
- Case Study: Management

Students learn to look at financial management from both a company and an individual point of view, to support better decisions in competitive markets, and to solve complex business problems through an integrated case study.

The diploma gives access to the strategic-level exams of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), an important step towards becoming a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

It is designed for graduates of the BCom (Management Accounting), the BCom (Financial and Management Accounting) and similar degrees. Qualifications at NQF level 6, such as diplomas in accounting, do not meet the entry requirement.
