Grade 12 Required Subjects to study Bachelor of Ministry at CTBS
- A National Senior Certificate with a bachelor's pass endorsement, or an IEB or equivalent qualification
- A pre-2008 Senior Certificate with matriculation exemption is accepted
- Alternatives such as the SOT, ACE, GED, Cambridge International and NCV Level 4 may be considered

About this course
The Bachelor of Ministry (BMin) is a four-year, 480-credit degree at NQF Level 8 (SAQA ID 62149), roughly 4 800 hours of learning. Like the BTh, it exits at honours level, so graduates meet the minimum requirement for a related master's degree.
The BMin has more than 40 modules and shares most of its content with the BTh:
- Biblical studies, including the Old and New Testaments and exegesis
- Systematic theology, from the doctrine of God and creation to Christology and the church
- Church history
- Practical theology: homiletics, biblical counselling, church administration and missions
- Christian leadership
- Research methodology and a dissertation
The difference is emphasis. Where the BTh starts Greek in the first year, the BMin replaces it with a module on God and Creation and puts more focus on the foundations of practical ministry. This makes it a good choice for students who want to be hands-on pastors, church planters or ministry leaders rather than language specialists.
Classes are contact-based. Full-time students take up to five modules per semester, and part-time students study on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 18:00 to 22:00. Credit may be granted for previous accredited theology study and through RPL.
