About this course
This NQF Level 4 occupational certificate (SAQA ID 118699) introduces both traditional IT networks and cloud platforms. You learn to set up and support cloud services, monitor system performance, apply security controls and use modern tools and automation to manage infrastructure. You can study through day classes (full-time, a blend of on-campus and virtual learning) or evening and Saturday classes (part-time).
It only requires a Grade 11 pass, so it is a practical first step into IT. CTU uses it as the first year of longer pathways: Cybersecurity Analyst Professional (moving on to Cybersecurity Analyst and Cybersecurity Practitioner) and Cloud Engineering and Data Analytics (moving on to Data Science Practitioner and Software Engineer). Vendor certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals are built into these pathways. It is an occupational qualification registered with the QCTO, so you complete knowledge, practical and workplace components and then write an external integrated summative assessment (EISA) to be certified.
