Minimum Admission Requirements to study Master of Commerce in Supply Chain Management at IMM
- An NQF level 8 qualification in a relevant field, such as a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and Supply Chain Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Logistics, or a BCom Honours in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or International Supply Chain Management
- Other related NQF level 8 qualifications may be considered
- Up to 10% of students may be admitted through Recognition of Prior Learning

About this course
The Master of Commerce (MCom) in Supply Chain Management is a 180-credit research master's degree at NQF level 9 (SAQA ID 124669), registered in 2025. It is IMM's newest and highest supply chain qualification and is advertised for 2026 intakes.
The degree is fully research-based. There is no coursework: the whole qualification is a single compulsory module, Research Proposal and Dissertation, worth 180 credits. You develop a research proposal and then complete a dissertation under supervision.
The programme aims to build serious academic engagement with the features, opportunities and problems of supply chains in global and African markets. Research topics linked to the African Continental Free Trade Area and to gaps in what is known about African supply chains are a particular focus.
SAQA lists a minimum study period of one year full-time. As with IMM's other postgraduate programmes, study is supported online through the eLearn platform. Check IMM's programme page for the current delivery mode, supervision arrangements and closing dates.
The MCom suits graduates of the BCom Honours in Supply Chain Management and people with similar NQF level 8 qualifications in logistics or procurement who want to move into senior roles, consulting, policy work or academic research. It can also be a step towards doctoral study.
