NSC aggregate of at least 70% (excluding Life Orientation); Mathematics 70%; Physical Sciences 60%; English Home Language 50% (no Afrikaans requirement), or English First Additional Language 60% (no Afrikaans requirement), or English First Additional Language 50% with Afrikaans Home Language 50%, or English First Additional Language 50% with Afrikaans Second Additional Language 60%. A selection mark is also calculated as Mathematics % + Physical Sciences % + (6 x Matric average %), out of a maximum of 800; recent selection marks of around 600-620 or more have generally been needed, with higher individual Mathematics and Physical Sciences marks required for some programmes.
