Grade 12 Required Subjects to study Bachelor of Theology at TEE College

About this course
TEE College's Bachelor of Theology (BTh) is a 364-credit degree at NQF level 7 (SAQA ID 62765), studied entirely by distance learning. It aims to help students join up their knowledge of the Christian faith with the practical skills needed to lead and care for Christian communities and contribute to wider society. Many students take it as part of training for ordination, so it is wise to check with your church's training authority before choosing electives.
Core and fundamental courses (136 credits) include:

- Engaging with People Pastorally and Ethically
- Growing Spiritually, Thinking Theologically
- Interpreting Texts: the Bible and Other Christian Sources
- Practising Christian Leadership and Management
- Facilitating a Christian Response to HIV and Aids
- Doing Ministry for a Change
- Integrating Theology and Ministry (the capstone course)
Students then choose nine electives from three groups: Working with Sources (Bible and history), Engaging with the Christian Faith (theology and ethics) and Applying Theology in Ministry, with at least two from each group and at least 96 elective credits at NQF level 7.
Study material is print-based and included in the course fee (TEEC is revising it for online delivery). Expect four to six hours of study a week per course. Part-time students should take no more than two courses at a time, and full-time students up to four. Teaching is in English.
Graduates can apply for honours degrees or postgraduate diplomas in theology at other institutions.
