About This Course
The IIE Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences in Application Development (BCAD) is a software development degree focused on building real applications for web, mobile and the cloud. It is a 360-credit IIE qualification at NQF Level 7 (SAQA ID 97600) from the School of Computer Science, offered on nine campuses and online over three or four years.
Programming is taught in every semester, supported by related IT modules:
- Year 1: Programming, Mathematical Principles, Computer Networks and Information Systems
- Year 2: Programming, Security Principles, Cloud Development and Information Systems
- Year 3: advanced Programming, Information Systems and Research for ICT
Through the degree you learn several programming languages, databases, app development, cloud services and secure coding, and work on practical projects that mirror industry work.
The BCAD suits learners who enjoy logic, problem solving and technology and who want a hands-on route into software careers. Students who complete the IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development can articulate into it.
